A structured settlement is an annuity or a guaranteed contract that agrees to pay the injured child a certain amount over time. For example, I often recommend structured settlements for injured children that will pay them a certain amount when they are 18 years old, a certain amount when they are 21 years old, a certain amount when they are 25 years old, and the balance when they are 30 years old or older. A structured settlement has many advantages among them that the settlement grows over time, the checks that are sent to the child are tax free, and there is no danger of the child, or anyone else, wasting the entire settlement in one bad investment or decision.
I really enjoy representing children, and their families. I have a great deal of experience in structured settlements, minor settlements, and resolving personal injury cases for children. I have represented the families of injured children in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. If you, a friend, or a family member would like information about your legal rights when a child is injured, please contact me.
I currently practice law in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. Your child injury attorney’s ability to reduce the outstanding medical bills or liens is an important consideration when you decide whether to hire an attorney.
